From stumbling blocks to stepping stones
As humans, the thought of how we grow and how we will develop and evolve is forever in our minds. It's funny, right? We start out thinking we know it all, and then life throws us a surprise, and we realize we're just scratching the surface. Skill refinement is not always the easiest task, but with just about the right amount of motivation, anyone can go far.
Here's what I've learned along the way:
⭐ Continuous learning:
Getting the certificate is important, but what's more important is staying curious about seeking out new knowledge. See your growth like planting seeds; you keep watering them, and you keep growing.
⭐ Look for mentors:
You cannot do it alone. Find mentors, people who'd walked the path before you, watch them, follow them, and learn from them. By doing this, they can show you the shortcuts and the pitfalls to avoid.
⭐ Get your hands dirty:
It is okay to read books and watch tutorials, but you'll never know how good/bad you are if you don't start doing. Practicalizing your skills is the surest way to gauge how far you've come. It's like learning to ride a bike; you have to fall a few times to get it right.
⭐ Listening to the whispers:
Look out for feedback, because both good and bad, they are a compass. It shows you where you're going and where you need to adjust. You might not like the choice of words or manner of approach of the critic, and honestly, it may sting sometimes, but it always leads to growth.
⭐ Connect:
Connecting with others and sharing experiences is invaluable and extremely important for growth. We're stronger together, right?
⭐ Discover your niche:
The truth remains that trying to be good at everything is a recipe for burnout. Finding your niche, where your skills truly shine, that's where the real magic happens. Find where you truly belong and develop.
⭐ Be in the know:
The world's always changing, and so are we. Keeping up with trends is not just about staying relevant; it's about staying inspired. Adapt to different changes and continue moving forward.
⭐ Focus:
Have clear goals and a vision of where you want to be. It's like having a map for your journey, which will help you get to your desired destination
My father always says, 'When we start, we know where we're going,' and the same thing applies to skill refinement. You will probably not know what the future holds for you until you tackle your fears and start doing. Remember, it's not a sprint; it's a marathon. It's about patience, persistence, and a willingness to embrace the journey.
